Tafseer

Lest people get about in groups
and start picking up the Qur'ān
to recite Alif-Laam-Meem,
or lest people get about in groups
and start picking up the Qur'ān
more dangerously so to act upon its verses,
they started a fire
to get people to do literary inquiries
into the Divine Speech
and get a scholar or two in Arabic
every now and then
to pour more fuel of language
into the fire.

Thus do they indulge
in Literary Criticism
and call it
Tafseer,
and at other times
dare to call it
Ta'weel.
